April 18 Message

Reavis Students, Parents, and Guardians:

Today, Governor Pritzker announced that Illinois will continue its suspension of in-person instruction through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. None of us expected that when our students walked out of our building on Friday, March 13th, that it would be the last time we would see them this school year. I cannot express how disappointed the Reavis faculty and staff are to lose the opportunity to share spring experiences with the responsible and hardworking students of Reavis High School.  I am devastated for our students--especially our seniors--but I know we will get through this together. I want to reassure you that we are prepared for the next steps, we are committed to student learning, and we will remain flexible during these uncertain times.

I know there are still many unanswered questions about the rest of the school year, but I promise that we will have clear answers in the very near future. One thing is for certain: e-Learning will continue for all students, and we will share a detailed schedule including a Frequently Asked Questions document early next week.  Students in the Class of 2020 will receive a separate email containing important information related to semester grades, prom, senior checkout, graduation, and much more. We will also continue with our meal service for any student in need. Please visit our website for information related to pick-up times.

To the Class of 2020: this is not how you, your teachers, coaches, or sponsors expected your high school career to end. We know this is most disappointing for you, and please understand that we are working on ways to bring a more positive closure to your senior year. From the moment you walked in our doors four years ago, you have represented the Reavis community with pride. You are part of the tradition that will carry on for many years. You are not forgotten; Once a Ram, Always a Ram!

I appreciate your understanding and patience during this extremely fluid time. We promise to remain in contact with you in order to communicate information related to our e-Learning plan, school calendar, and upcoming rescheduled events. I want to thank the entire Burbank and Stickney communities for your support and encouragement.  Continue to stay safe, healthy, and strong, and please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Riordan
