Important Message from Superintendent

Reavis Faculty, Staff, Students, Families, and Community:

I regret to inform you of another tragic death of one of our Reavis Rams, Waseem Hamayel.  Waseem was a junior student who was shot and killed in Alsip, IL on Friday, December 31st.  We have no details of exactly what happened that evening, so all we can do at this point is offer our sincere thoughts and prayers for Waseem’s family and close friends.  We are again reminded that every day is a gift, to never take tomorrow for granted, and gun violence is real, especially when it happens to someone we know and care for.

The Reavis Administration and Board of Education continues to stand ready to assist our students, faculty, and staff during this difficult time.  If any student or staff member is feeling stressed, anxious, or worried, please do not hesitate to contact an administrator or our Behavior Health Team.  We are here to listen, talk, and assist all of you throughout this process.

Sincerely,

Dr. Riordan
