Testing Information

The State of Illinois participates in the SAT® Suite of Assessments, which is an integrated series of tests on a common score scale. These tests include the SAT for 11th and 12th graders, PSAT™ 10 for 10th graders, and PSAT™ 8/9 for 9th graders. 

Reavis High School utilizes these assessments to measure student growth, learned skills, and increase students' opportunities to attend college and receive scholarships.

Freshman Year

PSAT 9

The PSAT 8/9 includes a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test. This is the first of the SAT suite of assessments. Students will take this test in the spring of their freshman year. Students earn points for the questions they answer correctly - there is no advantage to leaving them blank.

Sophomore Year

PSAT 10

The PSAT 10 includes a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test. Students will take this test in the spring of their sophomore year. Students earn points for the questions they answer correctly - there is no advantage to leaving them blank.

Junior Year

PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT/NMSQT measures college and career readiness, as well as skills in reading, writing and language, and mathematics. Students can choose to take this optional test as practice in the fall of their sophomore year.  They can also register for this test junior year to potentially qualify for scholarships.  Additionally, the results are used to identify student eligibility for the National Merit® Scholarship Program, which is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships.​

SAT

The SAT is an aptitude test that measures a student's critical reading, writing, lauguage and mathematics skills.  All juniors are mandated to take the SAT State Test as an Illinois graduation requirement.  These test results are also widely used in college admissions.

Register for the SAT

Students should log into their College Board accounts to register for the an SAT test, as well as view or send scores.

Fee Waivers

Students are eligible for up to four fee waivers (two SAT registrations and two SAT subject tests) if they receive free or reduced lunch or a fee waiver at Reavis.  This waiver will cover the cost of test registration, unlimited score report sends and college application fees.  Please see your counselor if you believe you are eligible for a fee waiver.

SAT Prep Program

Results from the PSAT 10 are used to provide each studentn with a personalized SAT study plan.  College Board ha partnered with Khan Aademy to provide diagnostic tests, full-length tests and video lessons to prepare students for the SAT.  All juniors will recceive this individualized test prep during their homeroom period.

Students will be directed to create an account on College Board and link it to their Khan Academy account.  This test prep program can be accessed at both school and home.

  • Username: First Initial of last name, followed by their full first name, followed by 19 (i.e. SJohn19)
  • Password: Reavis network password, followed by 19 (i.e. random19)

2021-2022 National SAT Dates


ACT

The ACT test is the nation's most popular college entrance exam accepted and valued by all universities and colleges in the United States.  The ACT is based on what students learn in high school and provides personalized information about their strengths for education and career planning.  Students can download the free SAT Score Converter app to compare and convert their SAT score to the ACT.

Registering for the ACT

Students who wish to take the ACT must create an account and register online on ACT's website.  This account can also be used to view and send scores.

Preparing for the ACT

ACT's free study resources allow students to familiarize themselvse with the instructions and format of the test, then reviiew, analyze and answer practice test questions. A complete practicie test wth scoring keys and a writing prompt are included in the free study guide.

2021-2022 National ACT Dates

Senior Year

Seniors are not required to participate in standardized testing.  However, you may wish to take another ACT or SAT test to improve your score for college admission, scholarship or placement testing purposes.
