Reunification Procedures

Wintrust Sports Complex

Standard Reunification Method

Our top priority in any emergency situation is the safety and security of our students and staff. One critical aspect of emergency response is an organized and accountable reunification of students with their parents/guardians in the event of a school crisis or emergency. As part of our Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), we have developed a detailed evacuation and reunification plan for our school campus. Guardians will be notified pertinent information via School Messenger. Situations may arise in which reuniting parents/guardians with their students at the school is not a safe option. In these situations, parents and guardians will be directed to our designated Reunification Site:

Wintrust Arena located at
5499 W 65th St,
Bedford Park, IL 60638

At the Wintrust Arena Reunification Site, Reavis High School will implement a formalized and controlled process of accounting for and releasing students. In the event of an emergency, do not rush to the school to pick up your child. This will only create additional traffic that may impede needed emergency vehicles and your presence at the site could delay the evacuation process. Parents/guardians are key partners in Reunification events. Guardians can ensure the success of reunification operations by reviewing the steps of the plan and discussing these steps with their student. In stressful situations like those that require reunification, prior discussion and review of the plan helps the process run more smoothly and reduces anxiety.

The Role of Parents and Guardians

Parents and guardians play a vital role in the success of any reunification effort. Preparation and understanding reduce stress and help ensure a smooth and safe reunification for everyone involved. You can support this process by:

  • Reviewing the reunification procedures outlined below.

  • Discussing the process with your student ahead of time.

  • Following official communications from Reavis High School via School Messenger or social media channels.

⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDERS ⚠️

  • DO NOT come to the school during a crisis. Wait for instructions from Reavis.

  • DO monitor School Messenger alerts or official school social media.

  • DO remain calm and patient. These situations are highly stressful, and your cooperation is vital.
